I made it by purchasing a scrap-booking punch ($3.99 at Hobby Lobby) and then using it as a stencil for a brush:īut here are my favorites-the water tiles! The original board has some strange, leaf-looking footprints but I liked the paw print better. If you look at the game board, there are starting tiles where you can place your mini's. Here is a photo of spray-painting the base coat to the various tiles:Īnd a sample of the tiles I have painted thus far: So I had a chance to work on some of the floor tiles over the weekend. Will continue to post.Īny of you get in on the Kickstarter for this game? Have you received the game yet? Then it's building the base, making the master molds for the unique pieces and casting those. Tomorrow, I should be able to get the base coat on most of the tiles and hopefully get the painting done in the next couple of days. This is because I want to make water tiles which I will post later once I paint them and can pour Envirotex on them. Notice that I partially filled the cavern mold (sorry for the blurry photos-using my phone for these shots). I casted all day today and was able to make over 300 floor tiles: It's also a lot less work so that's a bonus. It does look more like real grass but I like the stylized design on the unadulterated floor tile so I think I'll go with that. I asked my wife which one she liked better, and of course, she chose the one with the gravel. (For some reason, the color is way off in the photo-the ones on the left is more olive green and the right tiles should be less blue.) Here are the results with the Floor Tile and the gravel added. I got my molds from Bruce yesterday and was casting all day and was able to make some mock-ups. It looks like an awesome way to make bulk scenery.īut for my purposes, I am trying to simplify the process as much as possible. Thanks for the helpful tutorials on making saw dust grass, Oldman.

But do any of you have any ideas that have worked out for you? The alternative is to glue gravel (like I did with the tree stumps) and paint that green, which is an effect I've used for basing miniatures before. I am going to try and just paint that green with lighter green highlights but don't know how "grassy" it will look. One of the molds I ordered is the Large Floor Tile Mold #267.
Krosmaster arena 3d board how to#
One question for you all: I'm trying to figure out how to make grass tiles. (Ignore the Super Dungeon Explore Von Drakk mini's in the background-it's my current painting project.) I've also ordered a bunch of Bruce's 1.5" floor tiles which I will be using to make the board. These masters are made out of oven-bake Sculpey and I am awaiting my order from Smooth-On (Mold Max 30) to make custom molds for these pieces. The balls go onto the deciduous tree and on the bottom photo, you can see the pine. In the top photo, you can see that I made tree stumps for two different types of trees. I totally would have bought into the 3D pieces but since they are limited edition and only available through tournaments, I'm going to have to make my own! Those who got in the Kickstarter should be receiving it next week and I'm hoping to get my hands on the game next month. I was bummed because I missed the Kickstarter so now I'm just in the preorder.

Here's the link for the Kickstarter for the game for those that don't know about it.

Decided to start working on my Krosmaster Arena board while I am waiting for the game to reach my FLGS where I have it on pre-order.
